After you printed, it's time to get on your knees, tape larger parts of the dungeons together and then cut them into visibility sections.

But usually they are even less compared to the printing costs.Ĥ) You need to tape them together and cut them up.

Note that this doesn't include the cost of the PDF or the books.

That's reasonable if you ask me so I am very much for this as it helps players to immerse and speeds up combat. Only players pay (I as DM have to do the work, so I don't pay), and for 6 players (or 4, depending on who you ask) the players pay 12,5€ (18,5€) for about 8 sessions which is 1,6€ (2,4€) per person per session or about 0,4€/hour (0,6€/hour). This includes all battle maps and additional handouts like a A3 Sandpoint map, a A3 Sandpoint hinterlands map and 2 letters/diaries the players find. All in all, it did cost about 75€ for all of chapter 1 of RotR. I print them to 200g paper (normal letter paper is 80g) so the maps feel better and don't bend that easy. I print them in a local copy shop that does A3 (I am from Europe) printouts via a digital printer. You will hate this, but IMHO it's worth it. If the size is way off, reload the image in posterazor and adjust accordingly.ģ) You need to print the maps. It really doesn't matter if it's just 0.9 or 1.2, as long as it's roughly in the ballpark. Display a grid, set it to inches and see if the squares are roughly 1 inch on the side. I do a pass with posterazor and load it up in a pdf reader (I use Foxit). With it you tile the map picture in as many pages you need.Ģa) Getting the scale right. PM me so I don't forget to look it up and I will edit my post and write you back. If you use the PDF version from paizo, or downloaded maps, you need to cut them up into appropriate sizes.

If you use dungeon painter or an offline equivalent, you have export functions that you can use to print to certain paper formats. I mostly use them (supplemented by small ones I drew on dungeon painter and flip mats from paizo). For Rise of the Runelords, there are many maps up to the 3rd chapter available. Or you can scour the internet for some pre-made maps. You can also re-draw them yourself with or an offline equivalent, but this takes time. These are good but have limited resolution. If you run paizo adventure paths, I think they offer their maps in PDF form for download where you can disable the GM overlay text.
